Concurrent Classes - Free College Tuition
Does your student want to get a jump start on college credits? High school juniors and seniors can take tuition-free, college courses through concurrent enrollment. Though tuition is free, book purchases/rentals and student fees are required.
Oklahoma Law states that any qualifying student of at least the age 13 cannot be denied concurrent enrollment by any institution of The Oklahoma State System of Higher Education. (School Laws of Oklahoma, 2009 Chpt. 7, Article 1, Section 820. C.) However, the Oklahoma State Board of Regents for Higher Education promotes more stringent requirements. Homeschool students must be 17 years old as seniors or 16 years old as juniors to take concurrent courses. Students must also meet the ACT or SAT score requirements for high schoolers set by each college or university.
Most colleges or universities require the following forms for concurrent enrollment admission:
- Concurrent Enrollment forms with the required signatures
- Immunization Verification form
- Application for Admission forms
- Tuition Waiver form from financial aid office
- Official report of student's ACT/SAT scores
- Official, up-to-date high school transcript
Often, these forms can be downloaded from the institution's website.
